  • lemak - creamy (from coconut milk)

  • char - stir fried (Cantonese)
  • kway teow (guǒ tiáo)- flat rice noodles (Hokkien: kway teow, Mandarin: guǒ tiáo)
  • chow (chǎo) - stir fried (Cantonese: chow, Mandarin: chǎo)
  • lo (lāo)- stirred (Cantonese: lo, Mandarin: lāo)
  • mian (miàn)- noodles (Mandarin)
  • la (lā)- to pull or stretch (refers to hand-pulled noodles)
